Description

“Outdoor Drawing and Painting Class” is a 4 week course open to all levels, but particularly focused for beginners and those that have some experience but want to try new techniques for their own personal work and practice. Through demos and one-on-one feedback, we will explore translating mundane and/or visually chaotic and busy environments into well composed and designed plein air paintings.

We will start with warm up drawing exercices followed by the process of selecting a subject, compositional tools, and how to make composition studies before starting a painting. You will learn how to choose, experiment with, and mix your own color palette—understanding how to apply color theory to plein air practice in particular to daytime and/or dusk colours.

This class is centered in a non-intimidating educational environment in which mistakes and learning from our mistakes are welcomed and strongly encouraged. Together, we will analyze our paintings and learn how to utilize, exploit, and fix mistakes in order to make more intentional, meaningful, and confident painting decisions.

Further resources and references on drawing and painting will be provided to ensure continued success in your practice.

Dates:

MAY (Daytime)

4 Weeks, every Saturday 1pm - 4pm, 3 hours each class

Class dates: May 4th, May 11th, May 18th, and May 25th, 2024

JUNE (Dusk)

4 Weeks, every Monday, 6pm - 9pm, 3 hours each class

Class dates: June 3rd, June 10th, June 17th, and June 24th, 2024

Tuition:

$140 for bundle—all 4 sessions

$40 per individual sessions

Price does not include materials, painting supplies should be acquired by participants.

Please note that appropriate substitutions and/or using your existing art supplies is welcomed and encouraged.
