Description
“Outdoor Painting Class” is a 12 week course open to all levels, but particularly focused for beginners and those that have some experience but want to try new techniques for their own personal work and practice. Through demos and one-on-one feedback, we will explore translating mundane and/or visually chaotic and busy environments into well composed and designed plein air paintings.
We will start with warm up drawing exercises followed by the process of selecting a subject, compositional tools, and how to make composition studies before starting a painting. You will learn how to choose, experiment with, and mix your own color palette—understanding how to apply color theory to plein air practice in particular to daytime and/or dusk colours.
This class is centered in a non-intimidating educational environment in which mistakes and learning from our mistakes are welcomed and strongly encouraged. Together, we will analyze our paintings and learn how to utilize, exploit, and fix mistakes in order to make more intentional, meaningful, and confident painting decisions.
